WHO WE ARE

CALI-Uganda was formed on the principle of Preventing child abuse, ensuring a supportive and loving environment for children to enjoy their right to life. To support and conduct nonpartisan research, educational and informational activities to increase public awareness of issues in child rights and child protection; advocate for child rights; and to Increase community education and awareness about child abuse, including strategies for prevention and intervention.

Children are equal citizens of the nation and hence it is extremely important to safeguard them from any risks to their lives. Recognising the importance of safety and protection of all children as guaranteed in the Constitution of Uganda, to all children to ensure equality, and non-discrimination on basis of gender, (dis) ability, age, religion, ethnicity etc.,

CALI Uganda shall take measures to protect the child from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse, while in the care of parent(s), legal guardian(s) or any other person who has the care of the child.

CALI-UGANDA basically focuses on eliminating causes of child abuse and disease while providing a positive lasting solution. However, two conditions can be drawn to end child abuse and disease in our communities.

  • First; geographical endowments do matter for prosperity and we do have a policy recipe at hand to address one of the most pressing problem of the world's poorest countries such as a high prevalence of disease, lack of access to clean water, and poor agriculture yields.
  • Therefore the current development efforts seem to be the only appropriate cause of action and can put an end to extreme poverty. However, it is not certain that the current efforts can end poverty but CALI-UGANDA has some of the programs that can help cause a limit to extreme poverty.
  • Secondly; we need to be aware of the limits of the policy recipes and need to focus much more on developing appropriate methods that can enable eliminate diseases that convert development aid into sustained economic growth.
  • While it is obvious that sick and malnourished peasants in our communities cannot easily escape poverty on their own, it is far from certain a community with healthy and well-nourished inhabitants will automatically grow.
